My Commitment To Philanthropy

Giving has always been part of my life. Now, as a retiree, I have the time to be more deeply involved in organizations. After a successful four-decade career, I also have the means to support the causes Fern and I care about most, including Shady Grove Medical Center; Hope Connections; The US Holocaust Memorial Museum; the Sephardic Jewish Brotherhood; and The Anti-Defamation League. We give back through personal involvement, current contributions and planned gifts. The community has given so much to us; it brings us meaning and pleasure to pay it forward.

It’s who we are.

It’s who we will always be.

My Journey into Philanthropy

From a young age, I was taught the value of giving, by my parents, in religious school, and through my years in the Boy Scouts. That early foundation led me to give both my time and resources throughout college, law school, and my professional life. After surviving a massive “widowmaker” heart attack, I retired from work, but not from life. This next chapter is devoted to giving back. Today, I serve on the governing board of Shady Grove Medical Center, the hospital that saved my life. I’m honored to have served as Chair of the Shady Grove Medical Center Foundation. I am a member of the Development Committee of Hope Connections for Cancer Support and I serve on the Central Council of the Sephardic Jewish Brotherhood of America, where I am Chair of the Strategic Planning and Governance Committee.
